While attending Boston College Law School, from which he graduated in 1981, he was declared Outstanding Oral Advocate in three separate arguments in the Annual Wendell F. Grimes Moot Court Competition. He opened his solo litigation practice immediately after graduating. He is licensed to practice in the Massachusetts courts, the Federal District Courts and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. In the course of his forty plus years of practicing law, he has earned a reputation among judges and colleagues alike as a relentless, zealous advocate for his clients.
